Probably one for Sid Kippen. A recent thread by "a welcome new poster" begs the question:

Has the birth of a three legged man (or woman) ever been documented?

  2. What a wonderful thing the T'interweb is; found the answer to my own question:

Everyone who posts their first message automatically get the title of "Welcome New Poster". This reverts to "Member" on the second post.

I assume you were refering to the spam that has been posted. 99.9% of these types of messages get deleted before anyone gets to read them. However, a few are posted just after I head off to bed, so are visible for until I get up (BTW - its 5.30AM here). Its an ongoing battle...

  4. No problem. Been there, had that headache. Interesting though this topic of extra limbs.

I recollect a certain digger, long resident in the U.K. (you can have him back, thanks) singing a song entitled 'Jake The Peg with the extra leg'. Is this a frequent occurrence in the antipodies?

By chance I reside in the very city of origin of one, Rolf Harris. A much maligned fellow and resolute entertainer and accomplished artist.

I did hope to bump into him when I was in England but this did not happen and I blame the royal wedding, myself. However yonks ago a friend of mine, Martin was a guest on Generation Game ( why , I could never work out as he seemed a decent chap) however Rolf was one of the celebrities and was facinated with Martin and his chat on feet. Martin kept the crew amused with his ideas on games the contestants could play. In the short time they were togehter they built up quite a rapport and when Martin causually mentioned his grandfather stayed in Toronto, Rolf volunteered to take the family Christmas presents over as when he was on tour in Canada. This he did. When my kids were growing up I used to write to Tv personalities for autographed photos by way of encouraging the children to write (pre internet generation). Over the years we collected hundreds of communications and I papered the walls of the samllest room with them. Became quite a tourist attraction . However Rolf got back with his own photographs (which were autographed) and a personal letter which he had obviously taken time to write. So I have good reason to like Rolf Harris and always enjoyed his earler work which for an Australian artist then, was light years ahead of the pack.

  7. As a first year student I was lucky enough to meet Rolf over a pint in a quiet pub in Eastbourne (He was doing panto in the town). What sticks with me was just how friendly and down to earth the man was- absolutely charming.

Then I have no doubt that you both enjoyed that glorious operatic aria 'Jake The Peg'.

'Spreading All (his) Light All Around'.

  10. No. Nor did I manage to answer his question "have you guessed what it is yet?" But I did tell him that if he didn't refrain from it, I would have to call the police, I pushed him in the river, but he "somehow managed to scramble to the side" you can bet his mother and father soon had him "learned" to swim after that.
