I am looking for some advice for a friend who ruptured his Achilles tendon last week.

He went to see the Orthopod yesterday and was given the choice of rehab or surgery. He had to make the decision there and then! The only information he was given by the surgeon was the difference in recovery time, which they said was negligible. He was also told having surgery would carry the risk of poor healing around the calc & talus and maybe needing a skin graft if healing was unsucessful.

At no time was he told about the physical outcomes of either intevention, the movement, shape, muscle changes etc

He chose physio but I don't feel he was fully informed to make that decision, am I wrong? :empathy:

My request is which form of intervetion is better and why??

    Thanks Kate
