Having just undergone an achilles rupture repair myself, I have a renewed interest in this subject!

What is surprising is the variability of published post operative protocols for rehab.

Having done several internet searches on the subject it's amazing how there seems to be no continuity on these post op treatment - some are non weight bearing in a cast for up to 6-8 weeks, some are full weight bearing with cam walker at 4-6 weeks, some are no ROM exercises until 8 weeks, some are ROM at 2 weeks.....on and on.....

Variations in time in a cast, weight bearing, ROM, strengthening, heel toe gait, exercise types, are so common that it almost seems that each clinic or surgeon has his own ideas based on ------- based on I'm not sure what.

I'd like to hear from anyone involved in treating these either as the surgeon or in rehab.

    Thanks

    Steve
