    Hi all

Had a patient today complaining of pain around the anterior talofibular ligament area thats been present for 9 months. No specific accident reported. Biomechanically patient was hypermobile at the mid tarsal joint and could supinate excessively at stj. Would love to hear any recommendations, cheers.

Are you aware of sinus tarsi syndrome? Multiple theories on the cause, but my beleif is that it is caused when the STJ is maximally pronated, specifically the lateral process of the talus hits the floor of the sinus tarsi. Pain is increased with forced eversion in stance (lateral forefoot wedge). May feel better in a few days with a varus heel wedge.

There should be some threads here on the arena.

Thanks for that, Ive been concentrating on stabilising the foot with a deep heel cup and boots instead of shoes, along with physiotherapy. I'll look into a varus heel wedge when the physio and I see him next. Thanks again, much appreciated.
