So I am a lifelong runner (40-60 miles per week) who was diagnosed with hallux rigidus for which my DPM has recommended a bilateral cheilectomy. He is a very well regarded surgeon and actually the official podiatrist of the NYC Marathon. The x-rays show Grade I spurring on the top of both big toe joints. Doc was rather optimistic about recovery time and said I could be back in a sneaker in 5 days post-op. This seems very ambitious from many of the accounts I have read online.
