After lecturing at the Pedorthic Association of Canada's seminar in Montreal, my lovely wife and I are now in Washington, DC, vacationing during the Cherry Blossom Festival. The blossoms are a little late this year, and they are just starting to pop out. Expect full bloom in a few days.

  2. Today was a trip to the National Museum of American History in Washington DC where I just had to take this photograph of an original poster advertising the Woodstock Music Festival of August 1969.

Look at the list of some of the performers:

    Joan Baez
    Arlo Guthrie
    Sly and the Family Stone
    Canned Heat
    Credence Clearwater
    Grateful Dead
    Janis Joplin
    Jefferson Airplane
    Santana
    The Who
    Blood, Sweat and Tears
    Joe Cocker
    Crosby, Stills and Nash
    Jimi Hendrix
    Iron Butterfly
    Johnny Winter

Unbelievable....was this the greatest rock concert ever held....or what??!!

On another note, Barack and Michelle Obama's home at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue is also looking good these days.

  3. Went to the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum today and had a great time. Out of all the fabulous airplanes, jets, rockets and space vehicles I saw today, this was my favorite: the original Wright airplane that became the first heavier-than-air craft to accomplish sustained flight under its own power in 1903.

The story of the Wright brothers and how they accomplished this feat of engineering should be inspirational to any student of science. Hard work, determination and perseverance led them through many trials of failures before they were able to design the aircraft so that it had enough power, lift, stability and maneuverability to manage sustained flight. Their invention created an enormous impact on the world.

I suggest that those of you who are interested in science, and specifically aerodynamics, should become familiar with their methods of research and accomplishments.
