I am a 32 year old final year podiatry student, due to graduate in Summer 2013. I am interested in working in Australia, with a view to permanently immigrating but I'm not really sure where to start.

My interests lie in general podiatry - I scored very highly in prescription meds and foundation medicine and love being in clinic, I hope one day to gain a masters in rheumatology. I have no objection to working in biomechanics though.
I understand I need to have my skills validated by the Australasian Podiatry Council but that's about the limit of my knowledge so far!
Is it possible for newly qualified pods to move to Australia or will I need to accrue some work experience in the UK first?
Are there any specific barriers to immigrating that I should know about?
I have a husband and two young children who would come with me so I would need to be 100% secure in employment and a residence before moving.
Any advice or tips from people who have been through this would be excellent.
Many thanks
