Posts by RSSFeedBot are automated posts taken from other places - they are provided by other sites for this purpose. RSSFeedBot is a registered user that we created for the purpose of inserting the RSS feeds.

We take feeds from other forums (Student Doctor Network, Foot Health Forum etc) and from a number of news site, especially Medical News Today. Here is there list of feeds that they make available:

We take the Diabetes, Sports Medicine, Rheumatology and Dermatology feeds and insert them as posts. We take the health care news headlines from CNN health news; and the UK health news from the BBC; etc

In a similar way, we make our RSS feed for other to take if they want it:
http://www.podiatry-arena.com/podiatry-forum/external.php (the last time I checked, there were 19 subscribers to our feed)

RSS feeds can be inserted into forums (like we do); used as blog posts; or subscribed to privatly via something like Google Reader (I have over 200 RSS feeds going to my Google reader).

We do this mainly for information purposes for Podiatry Arena visitors. The RSS feed is only a snippet of the story and there is a link back to the source.

Members here can reply and discuss any of the posts made this way. The posts made by RSSFeedBot do turn up on the new posts page, but not on the home page new posts or in the weekly newsletter (it would get too cluttered with the RSS posts).

Yes. Non-members can read everything on Podiatry Arena. We work hard on Google rankings and our discussions on a lot of topics come up well.
Non-members can not access attachments in threads (ie pictures and pdf file) and they get served extra advertisements that can be annoying.
