Fresno foot doctor faces state scrutiny over license

State regulators want to revoke the medical license of a Fresno foot doctor who was recently acquitted of charges that he molested his young patients.

A spokesman for the California Department of Consumer Affairs, which issues licenses for doctors and other professionals, said the agency believes podiatrist Matthew Sciaroni is not qualified to practice medicine.

Sciaroni will appear before an administrative law judge, who will weigh the accusations against him and then recommend to the state Board of Podiatric Medicine whether he should keep his license, said the spokesman, Russ Heimerich.

"There is among all of our boards a primary obligation to protect the consumer," he said.

"The board believes there is a clear and present danger if we allow [Sciaroni] to keep practicing. ... We're going to try to shut this guy down."....
