In the Glossary section, we have the 'Offloading' definition as being: "the relief of mechanical stress (pressure) from a specific region of the foot."
The question is: is 'pressure' the same as 'mechanical stress'?
I think they are different!
Pressure: "is the force applied perpendicular to the surface of an object per unit area over which that force is distributed" Link
Stress:"In continuum mechanics, stress is a physical quantity that describes forces present during deformation. An object being pulled apart, such as a stretched elastic band, is subject to tensile stress and may undergo elongation. An object being pushed together, such as a crumpled sponge, is subject to compressive stress and may undergo shortening" Link
