    Hello,
I live in Saskatchewan, Canada. In December, I was diagnosed with Charcot Foot. Although I know the fundamentals of this disease, now I have an intense interest in finding out everything I can. My doctor told me I had to walk on my feet so I wouldn't develop blood clots in my legs, then proceeded to hand me two photstated pages from his textbook. On both pages it told me that ambulation made it worse and that there could be no weight bearing after diagnosis. Then he referred me to an orthopedic surgeon . I had to wait over 2 months for that appointment. In the meantime, I obtained a wheelchair and do my best not to walk. The surgeon noticed my wheelchair and told me the latest findings on Charcot Foot say that walking does no harm. Then he looked at my feet, and told me I should be going to a podiatrist regularly for care of my feet (toenails etc.) Then he said that I would not have to come back to see him again until I developed an ulcer or open sore at which time he would surgically repair my foot. Since then I have looked everywhere for a podiatrist or orthopedic surgeon in Saskatchewan that will give me the proper treatment. I still don't even have a cast. In the process I found out about Dr. Brent Bernstein in Pennsylvania. I am now making plans to move back to the States (I have dual citizenship) and try to find a doctor that uses Dr. Bernsteins techniques. I browse this forum periodically looking for any information I can find. Keep posting!! I am watching.
