I'm a new member. Am an American podiatrist who lives in Siena, Italy with dual US/Italian citizenship. Am currently looking into how I can practice here, licensure requirements, etc. So far I have written to the Italian Podiatric Medical Association and have been told that the only way is to have graduated from an Italian University...:eek: (I'm a grad of Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine '88.) Anyone have any other information or ideas? Such as practicing under another podiatrist's or MD's license here? What I am thinking about doing is practicing as a consultant to the doctors here in Siena, in particular the orthopods, to perform biomechanical exams and gait analyses of their patients and cast them for orthotics. Not interested in surgery. Also to travel around to the surrounding small towns who have no podiatrists--maybe see if I can get set up in a clinic once every two weeks or so to see patients. I have written to Langer Lab in the UK to set up an account with them should I be fortunate enough to have it come to that.

Hi Tango :welcome: to Podiatry Arena - Ive been through something similar here in Sweden but not really the same as each country will be different and I´m a New Zealand trained Pod so not same training as you.

I returned yesterday from a 2 week break in Tuscany and spent a day in Siena last week. Hugely envious that you live there - it's a beautiful town.

Thank you for welcoming me, Ian. Yes, Siena is beautiful and special. I must say though that living here is a bit different from visiting...but I am doing my very best to try to adjust. The Tuscans aren't hugely easy to befriend and it's a small city so it can get a little boring. Still, there is much to be said for it!! I wish you all the best!
