I'm a new member. Am an American podiatrist who lives in Siena, Italy with dual US/Italian citizenship. Am currently looking into how I can practice here, licensure requirements, etc. So far I have written to the Italian Podiatric Medical Association and have been told that the only way is to have graduated from an Italian University... (I'm a grad of Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine '88.) Anyone have any other information or ideas? Such as practicing under another podiatrist's or MD's license here? What I am thinking about doing is practicing as a consultant to the doctors here in Siena, in particular the orthopods, to perform biomechanical exams and gait analyses of their patients and cast them for orthotics. Not interested in surgery. Also to travel around to the surrounding small towns who have no podiatrists--maybe see if I can get set up in a clinic once every two weeks or so to see patients. I have written to Langer Lab in the UK to set up an account with them should I be fortunate enough to have it come to that.
I'm happy I found this forum. I welcome any advice. Grazie tanto!
