    I have found it MUCH easier and quicker to manipulate the needle if you merely leave the syringe on.

    I also do not use a sterile field, just prep the area with alcohol and start needling once it's numb.
    It's not exactly surgery.....

    I'd agree with Steve on both counts .
    I always attach a syringe to the end as it is much easier to use ( it's a bit like trying to write with just a pencil lead, it will do the job but it's way easier with a whole pencil).
    I also just pre swab the area with alcohol prior to the actual needling.
