I recently started a clinic in a Large GP practice. They have asked if I can do nail surgery for them. They would supply all material and euipment. Ideally how much would I charge for my time?

Hunspod, first of all well done for getting this agreement set up with the GPs:)

As for an answer to your question, well, how long is a piece of string?
I suppose it depends how much you value your time I suppose...

When you try to cost this out don't forget that you'll have to spend quite a bit of time looking at these patients' medical records, giving them a comprehensive foot examination and then deciding if they actually are suitable for nail surgery.
Just because the GPs refer them doesn't automatically mean that they are good candidates.

You say they will supply "all equipment" - does that include oxygen and adrenaline?

I think you should clarify with the GPs what would happen if you decided not to proceed with nail surgery - would you still get paid for your time asessing the patient?

Maybe you could base your rate per hour on what you actually earn per hour at the moment in other aspects of your practice?

Sorry I can't be more helpful, maybe someone else can make some suggestions?

Catfoot, thank you for your reply. You have raised some valid points I had not considered, eg, what happens if I decide not to proceed with surgery?
I think I will have to charge what I earn per hour from assessment to procedure.
And yes, I will be using their minor surgery room which has oxygen and Adrenalin and they will provide a nurse to assist.
Once again thank you for your help.
