TRACK 3 is a curious proposition .... in lieu of a residency program? It is the residency program when a Podiatrist acquires the skills that provide the specialist podiatric medical and surgical skills (in addition to the slew of off-service rotations in other disciplines). How then does the Podiatrist hone such skills? Not in a medical program, that's for sure. Will this be a path for a Podiatrist to earn a qualification to practice as a MD? If this mirrors the experience of the Osteopathy schools (DO) this route will likely signal the end of Podiatry.

Okay an MD/DPM degree makes perfect sense for anyone sitting on the sidelines that does not think about. However, if you do think about it?

What kind of school advertises before its, you know, open????????

MD and DPM are separate licenses in all the states. You need to have performed a residency in both in order to get licensed in said states. So, if you do go for this degree you are looking at a minimum of 6 years of residencies (that's if you want to specialize). But here is the kicker the chances of you specializing are really low Why? Because it is very difficult to get a residency as an out of the country medical school grad and that is what you are. Sure the school is located in Chicago, but its credentials are coming from Mexico, I imagine you will have to go to Mexico to take courses. This is sheer lunacy.
Does anybody think that anyone that successfully achieves the medical school grad with a residency is going to want to do Podiatry. Also, by the way if you do get the DPM/MD degree, but never do an MD residency it's still illegal for you to treat somebody's high cholesterol, despite what some may think. This reeks of a "get rich quick scheme" for the owners.
The fact is this will not succeed, the fact that they are putting out ads for their mythical school should send up warning flags all over the place.

Very little information provided - surprising since this is a landmark departure in the education of the Podiatrist

I think a new degree would be wonderful. But the MD organizations would be against it. My husband is a proud DPM but there are always bumps in the road.
