    Hey all

Dikosan made an interesting statement in another thread

Which got me to thinking. Rothbarted could be a useful piece of terminology. I will certainly remember it for the "unexplained methods and unlimited promises" school of biomechanics.

In the interests of keeping terminology up to date, accurate and to the point, are there other such gems of terminology which could be derived?

    Regards
    Robert

  2. How about :-

Spoonered: Verb. To have ones mechanical argument destroyed "with extreme prejudice".

Payne : Noun. The sensation of dispair and frustration at a person or group of persons making the same mistake even when they know better. As nicely represented by his own smilie :craig:

Podflake: Noun. Derived from the expression "snowflake in hells chance". A thread started by one who thinks they have discovered the holy grail of biomechanics and who posts it all triumphant, unaware that they are about to be badly spoonered.

D-smith: Noun. A post, preferably with a highly technical drawing which makes perfect sense and seemed perfectly transparent to the author and about 4 of the most intelligent people on the planet but that the majority of forumites have to read about 14 times before it even starts to make sense

    Regards

  3. Nice especially like the Spoonered which could also be fullered

Here a couple that come to mind.

Smithed. Ask a question in words get an answer in numbers. ( a bit like yours I guess)

Kéd : Ask a 1 line question can some please explain this, get 5 years of reading references in the answer.

  4. Being a big fan of self degrading humor.

BBQéd : A post which may or not be interesting. It can only be understood by people with a degree in dyslexic English and Podiatry. Will closely followed by

“ I´m a bit confused by what your trying to say here”

    Or

“ did you mean to say……”

    Or

    “ sorry ignore me I wasn´t thinking “

if you can´t laugh at yourself what can you laugh at.

    How about Webered?

You think that your team is going to win a sporting event, and you get stuffed by the Aussies (again).

Ah! One can only consider onself to be 'Doing an Isaac.' If the Isaacing is preceded by the words: 'Oh if I must.'

    ;)

Isaacing looks all wrong. Must need a K or something

......Isaacking........... Nah. That hasn't helped much.

Ever looked at a word too long & makes no sense?

I do it all the time.

  8. Spooner: Smell that? You smell that?
    Isaacs: What?
Spooner: Gripsotite, son. Nothing else in the world smells like that.
    [kneels]
Spooner: I love the smell of Gripsotite in the morning. You know, one time we had a lab session, for 12 hours. When it was all over, I walked up. We didn't find one of 'em, not one stinkin' pathology. The smell, you know that adhesive smell, the whole lab. Smelled like
    [sniffing, pondering]
Spooner: victory. Someday this war's gonna end...
    [suddenly walks off]

I'll "with extreme prejudice" you Mr Isaacs.;):drinks with the full redux version of me in lab mode. Back in the day I could grind and post an EVA from rough pressed to finished in under 2 minutes.- you know the score. These days I just grind my teeth when I read some of the posts here- it's all Kirby's fault- he told me to start writing here.

    Isaacated.

To receive education in the manner of a raised eyebrow and a careful destruction of all your firmly held, university taught, biomechanical beliefs.

  10. Just thought of this one

S.N.N Slayer news network. The weird and wonderful news of the world that has anything to do with feet.

C.N.N WAS TAKEN AND C.K.N.N did not have the same ring to it.

  11. Don't feel bad about that, you had a lot of other stuff to do as well and 2 minutes isn't THAT bad;).

One day we'll find a grinder and I'll race ya! Love the image of you as Kilgore in the war torn landscape of modern biomechanics BTW. Does that make Kevin Colonel Kurtz?

You really were scarred by that were'nt you :D. I trust you are continuing that fine tradition with your minions now. Work on the eyebrow.

OK, I was going to leave this one for kevin but...

Glaser : Noun. A model which ignores all concepts of modern biomechanical understanding and reverts to a grossly oversimplified paradigm which has no consistant rationale nor evidence for its efficacy.

Glasering : Verb. To aggressively promote a "Glaser" with the copious use of anecdotal data and sweeping and illogical statements.

Gleggit : Verb. To flee from such a debate when the critism reaches a critical mass.

Shavering : Verb . To promote ones "Glaser" by aggressively critiquing another model, usually Root/langer, in the sense of "if X is false Y must be true".

    Loved S.N.N. BTW :D

    Arenarring:
the use of wolf pack, abusive tactics to diflect opposing points of view.

    Kirbying:
The fabrication of new terminology to suit ones needs while using great energy to bash all other new terminology so as to fuel ones own ego and pockerbook.

    Payneful
The creation of biased and false slide shows and lectures on subjects that oppose "Modern Biomechanics a La Payne" without ever having spoken to their authors or visited or tested their techniques. A cowardly approach to biomechanics.

    Spoonful
An upgrading of small and unimportant personal degrees and publications used to diefy a point of view.

    Samsonite
A new element on the periodic table forged when a youthful portege of a school of thought utilizes blinders to shut out other points of view and abuse and diflection in order to become isolated and buffered.

    Facsimilizing
Bastardizing an opposing school of biomechanical thought in order to avoid looking at its value. The punitive weapon of the watchdog eye of The Arena

  18. Ever get the feeling that when some podiatrists who think they have invented and patented something of great value, but aren't getting the positive response they expected, revert to being like children who haven't gotten their way and start crying and name-calling? Very sad.

  19. I'm a little dissapointed. I was hoping if dennis was going to post he'd enlarge on last weeks post. He was going to enlarge on how sub talar pronation can take place outside the sub talar joint. Although I do find him to be at least 50% of a wit.

    Sorry. Now I'M being childish :D .

  20. Interesting topic, and probably not for here. I missed this original posting by Dennis could you direct me to it?

  21. Post #72 here

    http://www.podiatry-arena.com/podiatry-forum/showthread.php?t=39128&page=3

Got transplanted from the espanol part of the site.

But I've had PM from the man himself to the effect that he won't be drawn into the Payneful Spoonfuls of Arenaing again so I like Mr Jagger I doubt you will get no satisfaction.

Personally I'm quite hurt by Dennis's post. I would have hoped to have been sufficiently rigorous to have earned a new word from him but no. Must try harder.

    Regards
