Hello, My name is Elaine, I am new to working alone in Private Practice and am baffled by the symptoms of a male patient in his late 40's. He is presenting with 3 numb lateral didgits on his right foot. He has pess cavus feet, is a keen golfer and is healthy and takes no medications, he is a moderate drinker. He has had blood tests from his doctor and seen a neuropathy expert and has been told nothing can be found?

Hi Elaine:
Where exactly are they numb? Plantar, dorsal, interdigital, all...
Are they anesthetic ?
Pain?

If it's unilateral it most likely is not systemic.
Next you need to r/o any etiologies historically (cold injury, lumbar pathology, post knee surgery, etc....)
Clinically one needs to determine what dermatome or peripheral nerve is affected and go from there.

Depending on his area of "numbness" here's a quick list to rule out.
R/O sural and or common peroneal N (secondary to pes cavus)
R/O sup peroneal Neuritis
R/O Morton's neuroma
R/O Tarsal Tunnel syndrome
R/O lateral plantar N entrapment
