Pelvic Rotation Effect on Human Stride Length: Releasing the Constraint of Obstetric Selection
Katherine K. Whitcome et al Anat Rec, 300:752–763, 2017.
Interesting. I had a patient this week who demonstrated excessive right sided pelvic rotation and restricted left sided and an excessive step / stride length.
The inshoe analysis indicated a heel strike on the left with forefoot strike and no heel contact on the left. Turns out, the best part of 10 years ago she had plantar heel pain and ran with reduced heel contact which appears to have persisted. However, in order to achieve that with an excessive step length, it would appear that she has to excessively rotate her pelvis. As a result of the asymmetry, she has had a series of right sided problems.
