Has there been any further information? Is the wife having to go to trial? I was talking to a rep the other day who couldn't believe his wife was involved. Very sad still.

  3. I heard at the Vancouver PFOLA conference that Phil and his wife had recently separated and had filed for divorce before the murder occurred. The people who told me this seemed to be "in the know", but I have not had this fact confirmed by anyone else.

It's all still very sad to me.

  10. Four hours seems fairly short for a murder trial. Very sad all the way around...Phil Vasyli was a great guy and he will be missed.

So if you are of good character you are not guilty but if you are of bad character you are guilty. I do not get this.

The defense team will seek to employ whatever legal strategy they can to support their client and build the case. This is likely based on legal precedent .... or desperation.

I think the defense team just wants an excuse to continue to bill their client $1000/hour.

If you follow some of the comments from locals on the above recent news stories, this is generating a lot of ill-feeling about the 'justice' that a 'privileged, rich, white' person can get compared to a 'local'.

    Craig,

I can agree it's definitely not fashionable to be white. Or rich. Only, since when has wealth become a crime?

The gripe of the locals is that because she is white, rich and of 'good character', that she is not guilty when she did it anyway! The courts would not be so indulgent if the defendant was a local, not-rich, and not of good-character. Either you did it or you did not do it. Being a non-local, white, rich and of good charactor is no excuse for murder.

    Craig,

Do you know of any links to understand better the case against her? All I can find is sound bites.
