Since you and Admin are one and the same.......you should be combined into one Craig/Admin person that has 2,583 postings......much more than enough to get my name out of that infernal top poster list!!:pigs::pigs::pigs::pigs::pigs::pigs:
Admin, methinks QUALITY of posts should be considered in the scaling if this exercise is repeated!
I get an adrenaline rush seeing my forum name amongst those luminaries (yes Russell and Isaacs included) and I've taken a hard copy and will frame and hang same for my peers to gaze at. yours mark 'joh' conley
Admin, shouldn't we separate the sexes, a list for the girls, let's face it poor darlings are starting behind the 8-ball to begin with, give them a lift, encourage them!
Kevin. You belong there. Deal with it.
Acceptance is the first step to learning to cope.
Co-incidentally i tend to agree that there should be some measure of quality there. Oops, Kevin again.
At the risk of enraging the mighty top poster, i think Brian deserves an Honorable mention here. I have learned a great deal from people's replies to his posts both in bio mechanics in general and on the functioning of the scientific method at the highest levels as well. Witnessing the likes of Kevin and Simon in high gear is an Honor and a privilege. These threads have also produced some of the funniest posts on the forum (other than the chicken crossing the road threads!)
Not to worry.
I admit that I tend to pick on certain people....those that I feel rightfully deserve it by their attitudes and actions.
It is just who I am and the way I act is certainly not meant for all personalities.
I agree that our discussions with/about Ed Glaser and Brian Rothbart were some real classics on Podiatry Arena. I sometimes miss these discussions.
Maybe as I age, it is likely that I will post to these podiatry websites less frequently.
However, I can't see this happening within the next few years......because I am having just too much fun with it all!
Looking forward to seeing you in San Diego.
:drinks
Eric Fuller, Craig Payne, Karl Landorf and a few others of the contributors to Podiatry Arena will be there.
I'll be there Thursday with my lovely wife, at about 1 PM.
I spoke with the meeting organizer today and about 240 have signed up as attendees with many more expected in the lecture halls as exhibitors/lecturers.
Looks to be about the same size crowd as last year's meeting in snowy Chicago.
Can't wait to see your lecture on FEM of foot orthoses.
Should be a good one!:pigs::drinks:pigs:
I have also just noticed that now after 200 posts you become a "Veteran", and Kevin gets the title MVP. Is this based on quantity or quality? Because in Kevin's case we have both.
...its just me playing with titles - its temporarily changed to:
A Welcome New Poster - 1 post
Podiatry Arena Rookie - 2 posts
Member - 4 posts
Senior Member - 30 posts
Podiatry Arena Veteran - 200 posts
I have also just made some coding changes to add a second user title --- just experimenting with options.
I just added MVP to Kevin as he has posted so much good stuff ... will probably in the future add more and being added to the MVP group will be via a community vote.
I have also created a spam buster group (Donna has been added for the stirling job that she has done there; see message 4 above ....which reminds me, I meant to email her to tell her i did this )
The idea being to create several sub-title categories to reward and recognise those who contribute both in quality and quantity to the Podiatry Arena community.
I am still trying to work out how to code for pretty images rather than the words 'MVP' or 'Spam Buster' or 'etc'.... problem is that I need to concentrate to do it and have these Arena'ettes crying at my ankles...
once that is sorted, then get on with adding new user titles.
A lot of other mods and code changes have been going on in the last few weeks: there is the member map and the stats page and the advertising (see my post re that). There will also soon be a "Buy Admin a beer" mod added :dizzy:
Being a regular follower of Podiatry Arena for some time I feel as though I should at least elevate my title to 'rookie' status.
As the number of persons submitting their location on the new map steadily increases, can I
suggest a new category list for the most remote users. At present I'd like to install myself as the early favourite to secure top place, admin outside.
OK, OK, OK.....so I'll now have to buy you a beer or two in San Diego next week, Craig. :drinks
Don't know if everyone that has "locked horns" with me on Podiatry Arena considers me an "MVP".
I'm sure that many can come up with some more colorful acronyms that they feel better describe my ability to offend their egos.
:pigs:
Newsbot has not really posted them ... its an automated RSS feed that is posting news stories under Newsbot's name. There is more about it here. Either way, I am sure Kevin is happy.
Newsbot does not actually do anything. For the messages coming via the RSS feeds, they are all automatic. To be mean, I could configure all the feeds to be posted under Kevin's name :drinks
Oh really? Is there anything computers can't do? :D
Somehow I don't think you would be evil enough, CP! :p We wouldn't want to annoy the MVP to Podiatry Arena... It is a shame that he lost the top spot though...
It won't last. Perhaps a thread to draw kevin out would be in order, get him back to the top spot. Something he can't resist.
Actually you know i think Ed glazer has added a lot to the profession. His carefully thought out, extensivly researched and excellant model really should be something we all adopt. It's a new and better paradigm, repeatable and reliable (which is, of course, the same thing).
Why oh why don't we ALL switch to MASS position casting? It must be reluctance to embrace positive change.
Unless anyone wants to say otherwise....
You know you want to....
:p
Regards
Robert
PS (my luck it will be Simon who happens upon this first:butcher:. Then they'll be trouble!)
I am a tad saddened to learn of Newsbot's true status. I always regarded him/her as being, yes studious Donna, but also provocative, on the edge, with just an appropriate touch of wit.
A role model for lesser pod's like myself, a hero worthy of adulation.
... Has anyone out there had any experience in the removal of tattoos?
Rest assured I still get my pound of flesh out of Newsbot and Admin2. They are and have been a number of different people at any one time (usually working with me on other things and get roped in; eg an honours student; they don't get paid, but a few beers always helps). The only automated posts from Newsbot are those in the RSS feed forums linked above. All the other posts they make are not automated and are sourced from a large number of alerting services (that we pay for). Admin2 gets an automated email every time a new thread is started - their job is to ASAP, find all related threads to add links to them (or, if appropriate, merge the new thread with an old one). They still work hard.
Funny thing....Craig tells me that Mr. Ed may be at the San Diego PFOLA seminar that we will all be arriving at tomorrow.
Craig told me that I may get to meet him for the first time.
Joy! My secret weapon.....Dr. Spooner.
He going to be my bodyguard....cuz he sez heez one of dem rugby dudes:rolleyes:
Oh to be a fly on the wall. I suppose cramming a round table debate into the agenda then videoing it and posting it on youtube would be too much to hope for?
If he offers to buy you a drink, make sure you see it poured!
Just got back from PFOLA......there were quite a few Pod Arena regulars who were there and may want to discuss what did occur at the meeting in this regard.........
Trying hard to get off the list and seem to be succeeding.... noticed that I've gone from 601 posts down to 590 posts over the last two weeks. Didn't realise you got the shrinks in cyberspace!
Mark ... we have had a bit of a clean up. A number of threads have been deleted that were redundant and no longer useful. Threads like "Trying to find a podiatrist in <city>" etc. I did not think you were in that many though!
