I have a patient who attended today wanting to know what the lumps were on his 2 of his lesser toes.
Initially i thought tophaceous gout. However on leaving he told me he has haemochromatosis so it is more likely to be pseudogout. Xray reveals no joint erosions or significant jt damage.

The formation of crystals is evidence as such that can we view from a hole, almost like the body is attempting to excrete them.

I have treated ulcerations related to tophaceous gout but my questions are

1. Is pseudogout as likely to ulcerate as tophaceous gout
2. Is there a treatment option for him. I dont really want to go delving in there and create further problems.
