Hi all. Im new in this podiatry Arena Forum.
I've decided to join in because this might be where I can get the most accurate answers.
I really hope to pursue Podiatry in the UK and have applied to numerous Universities. But i have so many questions in mind and I still couldnt really get them sorted after searching up for days. :confused:

1. I want to find out the length of studying, from bachelor of Podiatry (Bsc), to Msc of podiatry and then PhD in podiatry.

2. Upon completion of my Bsc, Msc or PhD will I be getting the title of Doctor of Podiatric Medicine(DPM)?

To find out the length of study required you will need to contact each university as they may vary slightly.

As far as I am aware there is no "Doctor of Podiatric Medicine" title. If you complete a PhD then you will have a Doctorate but the title would depend on the subject for your doctorate.

So I think these questions are best put the the establishments offering the courses.

Doctor of Podiatric Medicine or D.P.M. Degree designation is only available from an accredited school in the United States. They do not recognize other schools from other countries. Think of it as US podiatry brand.

In the early days the degree was granted by private schools, I suspect to improve the credibility and public regard of podiatry. Now schools are public. You will still see cultural references to podiatrists not being "real doctors", made it onto Seinfeld. Don't worry about title upon graduation or degree designation. No one asks for your transcript either. It's more important to be able to communicate effectively and be willing to work on feet, dealing with the public.
