    Hi everyone

I have managed to get both myself and my accountant confused when trying to organise hiring a permanent part time receptionist to my growing mobile clinic.

I am hoping to hire a relative of mine but wish to pay them by award wage for their position but these new modern awards on fairwork.gov.au are doing my head in!

Basically they have nil experience, but will be performing all the tasks I can no longer find the time to do.....answering phones, returning faxes, autoclaving and making bookings, about 8 hours a week to begin with, from my home office.

What award wage is everyone using for their staff? where abouts did you find this award wage?
Is it classified as a medical recptionist or simply clerical work in a private sector?

    :wacko::confused:

    I'd really appreciate the help!

    Thank you

PS-office is in brisbane, if that is required.

Are you a member of your state Pod Association? They (hopefully) should be able to advise you.
There is a Health professionals award & support staff award attached to it if I remember correctly. Try searching industrial relations or even your state health awards.
Obviously there are a lot of other people in the same situation as this thread has lots of views but no answers.
I'd imagine if they have no experience they would be grade 1.
I've just started as a Podiatrist & I wouldn't work for the award wage personally - it's less than I was getting cleaning!
I don't know if the support staff award is just as ridiculous, so compare it with other positions advertised ( e.g seek.com)
Love to know what you find out!
    Cheers,
    Kara

    Thanks Kara
I had trouble searching for the modern awards, but I managed to find it, under the health professional and support staff award.
It was easier searching it as an 'employee' than trying to read through the employers version.
The site/system is run on flash so I cant send a direct link, but if anyone else requires the information, go to www.fairwork.gov.au and find the paycheck feature for employees.

And you were right. The pay for grade I is pitiful so I will be bumping that up a bit :)

    Thankyou!
