Collecting shoes is not a fetish whereas having sexual relationship with them is. In the case of shoes, the paraphilia is called restifism (or retifism). Some restifists will amass a set of shoes which are kept for their intimate pleasure.

Collecting anything, should it become an overwhelming preoccupation would be symptomatic of a compulsive disorder. This is not a fetish in Freudian terms.

Many people now accumulate shoes (both worn and not) as a form of investment. Comparatively cheap artefacts these can prove blue chip investments.

If you would like to know more about foot fetishism and shoe retifism, then have a look at http://toeslayer-retifismandfetishism.blogspot.com/ (Warning this does contain some adult material)
