Hi folks, wondering if you could provide some advice on what type of secure/encypted means you use when either emailling sensitive information about a patient or sending letters to GP's digitally?
    Argus? Promedicus?

Any Advice would be Much appreciated

    Michelle,

Secure document transfer is built into some practice management software, such as Medical Director used by most GPs.
Hospitals are developing solutions that will integrate with Medical Director, but most aren't there yet, so use a print to fax option.
Community service groups (including Community Health and some hospitals, in Victoria at least) use

with the Australian Government promoting the PCEHCR

You may also be able to use the encryption built into MS Outlook
http://office.microsoft.com/en-au/outlook-help/encrypt-e-mail-messages-HP001230536.aspx though not sure if it meets minimum requirements.

Thanks very much Stephen. the medical centre i am working within in Victoria uses medical director to email/send letters via Argus and they would prefer all correspondence to them using the same/similar platform.
I will look into Outlook's encryption though, and see if any other private pods have any other ideas.

We use Medical Objects for our secure messaging with health professionals. Our medicare local is helping to fund x amount of allied health for the first years subscription. We have been using it for well over 12 months now. The beauty of it is it is immediate- the report can be with the GP before the patient has left the rooms, the report can be tracked [data shows when the report arrived at the practice and the time it was taken up by their software].It also saves time with, printing and postage. There was a document on the internet regarding whether allied health was ready for e-health.i think it listed the 4 or top 4 secure messaging companies here in Australia
    Cheers, Jo BB
