I read in the late 1990s of serial local anaesthesic (without cortisone) used to treat sinus tarsi syndrome.

I have fruitlessly searched for the reference for an interested colleague, and wondered if anyone else could remember it, or even better remember the author or journal?

I would imagine it works in the same way as serial local anaesthetic used for neurogenic pain as used by pain clinics.

Thanks for any help you can offer,

    David

Can't help with Sinus tarsi syndrome. I co-wrote a paper on serial LA injections for PF which was published in the British Journal of Podiatry in 2001 but in the literature review I don't recall reading the paper to which you refer. I'm at fault if it was in a peer reviewed journal because it should have been referenced. Please let me know if you find it.

Cheers Bill - I remember your article - it illustrates well the anti-inflammatory effects of LA, or maybe it was the tibial block calming the nerves? I have used it a few times as you described following your article with generally good results.

    Hi Bill

Is there any chance of seeing a copy of your article? I would be very interested to read it. Thank you.

    Hi Linda

It was published in the BJP in 2001. Sorry, I don't have the number but if you enquire at the Society of Chiropodists and Podiatrists I am sure they will be able to help.

    All the best

    Bill
