I need to develop a proposal for my third year undergrad project. I am interested in wound care but think that it is an area that's been thoroughly covered. I am not sure what I can do that will be viable (as an undergrad project I can't see them wanting anything too in depth/anything that will have too many ethical considerations).

I also think that the only area of wound care I could do would be offloading as it is already well known the hyperglycemia, vascular and neurological issues affect wound healing. However I feel that offloading methods and plantar pressures in terms of wound healing are likely to have been looked at extensively. Does anyone know about any gaps in the research re offloading and wound care?

 

I have no knowledge on the gaps in the literature, since it is not really my area, BUT identifying relevent gaps is the first, and important step in the process of clinical research.

You will need to do some kind of brief literature review to establish this - Pubmed and Google Scholar is the place to go for a 'quick and dirty' search. If you then need to be more systematic about it, access the databases (CINAHL et al) that you will have access through via your institution. The process of identifying the relevent gaps will form an imporant part of your final research report, in that you need to present adaquate justification for carrying out whatwever study you end up doing.
