Hi all,

So next month I have a final year student from the University of Newcastle spending 2 weeks with me for work placement.
It is the first time I take on something like this so I am just wondering,

Should I assume the student has absolutely no technical skills and just let him observe for the entire period.
or should I get him stuck straight into the orthotic making process and get him a little dirty.

Any suggestions?

Great question! Well done on supervising for the first time too.

Safety is of the utmost importance and each student will need to be assessed individually.

Observation for the first few days of the varying aspects of PP through all the different areas gives the student a good snapshot. After this you may have a idea as to what the student can be hands on with.
