Art & Sole: Contemporary Sneaker Art & Design Nathan Gale (Intercity)

This is a beautiful new book dedicated to sneakers and provides an insiders view into a growing subculture. The book covers two main areas i.e. "Sneakers & Art" and "Art & Sneakers". "Sneakers & Art" is a showcase of examples where there has been a successful collaboration between artists and sneaker manufacturers. The second part, "Sneakers & Art" explores how consumer trends in casual foot attire has become mainstream art. The book is lavishly illustrated throughout amazingly with hundreds of customized sneakers, many of which were produced in extremely limited runs, and all of which appear to be in spotless condition.

A must for all sneakerheads but also a valuable insight into the social significance
that shoes play in the Millennials psyche.

    Here is another cracker filler.

Jews and Shoes is a fab new book by Edna Nahshon and a refreshing look at the makings and meanings of shoes, cobblers, and barefootedness in Jewish experience. The book is well illustrated and shows how shoes convey theological, social, and economic concepts, and as such are intriguing subjects for inquiry within a wide range of cultural, artistic, and historic contexts. Edna Nahshon is Associate Professor of Hebrew at the Jewish Theological Seminary and Senior Associate, Center of Hebrew and Jewish Studies, Oxford University.
