    Hello luvs

    I am putting together a foot health education power point for some foot health seminars. I am trying to keep it informative but fun. I want to do 3 top tens, including top ten for health tips and top ten interesting foot facts (any one got any cool or funny foot facts please let me know).

    I want to kick off with a top ten of foot problems, despite finding quite a few objective lists from private podiatrists I can't find any statistical evidence as to what these would be. If any one knows where I could find this info for the UK of U.S. I would be very grateful.

    Hi Richie,
    As a very basic response to your question I would say that a great many people are embarassed about their feet because they;

    think they smell

    think they are ugly

    think they look abnormal

    think they have some awful problem with them that no-one can fix,

    so you need to do an upbeat presentation informing people that however bad they think their feet look, a chiropodist/podiatrist has seen it all before and can deal with it.

    The SCP provides some good promotional material, so give them a call.

    A lot of people believe the myth that by soaking their feet for hours on end, this will get rid of thickened nails or callus.

    It is a bit like pouring that goop in your engine to stop a leaking head gasket;)

    Hi Richie & if I haven't already said :welcome::welcome::welcome:

    As a private practitioner all my patients are self referred. I think you may have problems finding the stats for the top 10.......................

    My top 10 (if they are of any use).

    1). I think I have a verrucae.............

    2). My corn is crucifying me!..............

    3). I really need a shirropodist.............. (usually present with long nails!)

    4). The last one made me bleed so I won't go there again.

    5). I think I have an ingrowing nail (usually presents with excessive granulation, infection & swelling). History: ' Since I was 12 {pt. aged 46}.

    6). Will you go into the local hospital? I have just realised my fathers nails are 2ft. long!

    7). My heel really hurts when I get up in the morning.

    8). My feet hurt, it can't be my shoes though as they cost me £200.00

    9). I love people playing with my feet. You do rub cream in don't you?

    10). I was playing golf & I felt something 'give'. Terrible pain ever since.........

    I love my job. Something different every day. The cases I find most challenging/rewarding are those who call with long nails though present with far more complex problems.

    Good luck in your endeavours.

    Kind regards,

    PS. I forgot: ' I have fungi'!
