There has been a bit if a buzz about this in the last few days. A New York Podiatrist has trademarked the name "Slimline Bunion Surgery" for a medial incision approach to bunion surgery. A lot of people already do that. There is this thread from the Student Doctor network; What a joke and several letters in PM News about this.

Here is the original press release:
New York Podiatrist Dr. Emanuel Sergi Develops Cosmetic Approach to Bunion Removal
Dr. Sergi's new Slimline Bunion Surgery offers patients in the New York area better functional and cosmetic results and less downtime than traditional bunion removal techniques.

I guess my technique of 20+ years now has a name.

Your technique for 20 years, my technique for 20+ years when indicated, the docs who trained me used that technique for many years prior to that and so on and so on........

This Dr. Sergi's claim that he "developed" this procedure is so lidicrous, it's almost comical. But the sad part is the poor suckers who will actually buy it and believe this turkey is actually some type of pioneer, rather than a fraud.

Now I want to publicize a NEW bunionectomy/osteotomy I just "developed". It involves cutting a "V" shaped osteotomy in the head of the metatarsal. Stay tuned....after I patent it I will give you the details.
