hi guys, i'm searching for some volunteer work in podiatry in particular the homeless community.
during these times in know everyone is doing it tough and I want to find a way to give back to the community.

For what it's worth Footscape turns 11 on Monday. During this time we have proudly achieved:
- Eight years of free Podiatry services provided to recipients of care at the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre. ASRC is an amazing organisation!
- 31,000 pairs of new socks/new footwear/second hand footwear distributed to homeless persons, asylum seekers, financially disadvantaged children, Aboriginal persons and victims of domestic violence at over forty affiliate organisations.
- 700 foot care kits distributed to homeless persons, asylum seekers and Aboriginal persons to promote foot health.
- 300 pairs of orthoses distributed, predominately to financially disadvantaged children with clinical need.
- Small international projects, with focus chiefly upon advancing diabetic foot care in Nauru.
- Endorsement as a charity by the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission. There are seldom Aussie Podiatry based organisations with charity status!

For what it's worth it can actually be difficult for a good willed Pod to provide holistic volunteer services to homeless clientele given the chronic and complex conditions which individuals may present with. Accordingly, I admire the setup of the Cohealth homeless allied health team (https://www.cohealth.org.au/health-services/homelessness-support/homeless-allied-health/) featuring an incredible Podiatrist who I actually graduated with. Nonetheless there are opportunities to volunteer with such organisations as Sacred Heart Mission (https://www.sacredheartmission.org/).

Footscape encourages Podiatrists and Podiatry Clinics to get involved with our work. Options include:
- Making a tax deductible donation.
- Sponsorship.
- Serving as a sock collection point for members of the community to donate new socks to Footscape.
- Participating in a working bee at our Rosanna material aid setup. Albeit Covid-19 restrictions have meant these are temporarily on hold.
