Good day all
I was just wondering what is the rules regarding uniform for pod students around the world. Here in SA it is compulsory to wear formal dress code with a white lab coat when attending clinics. Is it the same everywhere else. I believe that the way you dress says a lot about your personality. Currently we are trying to implement a new uniform which will be one color of scrubs that can be worn everyday to clinics. I would love to hear from people around the world. And also are there still qualified practitioners that is still wearing the white lab coats.

In Singapore there is a pretty big Variation between hospitals. We have a white coat but don't use them because they are uncomfortable and use a normal collard shirt instead. Others use scrubs or polo shirt uniforms. I've heard in UK some use Tunics.

 

In my NHS trust in UK, wearing a lab coat for clinic work is a no-no as we have to be "bare below the elbows" for infection control reasons.

 

We were supposed to wear the white coats at university. I always felt ridiculous, and a bit of a try hard. Couldn't wait to lose it.

Haven't worn one for 8 years. I do live it Australia though. In the tropics! We're pretty relaxed around here.

I completely agree with the infection control and really hope that we can change our current protocol. Its a small issue but solving the little things is what makes the difference between a good and a great profession
