Hey guys I am an incoming freshman. I am so excited about beginning school and taking the steps to becoming a podiatric physician. I know what my personal reasons are for wanting to become a DPM, but I am curious about finding out what other people's reasons may be. Hopefully I will get some feedback on this thread and find out why everyone else thinks this is a great career. Thanks!

  2. Hi Kaifreame,
I'm just going into my second year in the UK. I actually wanted to study Podiatry after getting orthoses when I was entering the services around 10 years ago. Looking back I should have put off the services completely and focused more but I digress! I found the whole process of altering my gait to heal my injuries (which it did) utterly absorbing.

    Hope that helps!

I fell into the profession because my cousin was training, and I couldn't think what to do!
    I'm so glad I did.
I'm well paid. I meet and talk to interesting people all day. I have the privilege of making people happier by relieving their pain, fairly instantly. I don't have sleepless nights about my patients.
I can choose my hours, have worked around bringing up three children, and I can carry on as long as I am able. Perfect!
