Here is a true story from my morning so far......

Got up at 5.00 am to clear snow so we could got to work about 30-35 cm ofheavy wet snow fell last night. Cleared snow for about 1 hour, very sweaty and and ready for some food. No time for Food, quick shower too the car. Get to the train station find out the train has been cancelled, drive to work giving 1 person a lift into Stockholm as they had an important meeting and were stressed never met this person, but do a good deed.

By now very hungary buy a big coffee and sandwitch for breakfast, get to work, check messages 1st two patients cancel due to snow. So think to myself get my monthly accounts together, eat, read the age on line, pod arena.

Started to sort papers, all over the front desk, think I´ll do that after, click on the internet, go to log in to Pod arena hand takes out the full coffee on the way thru.

Now my accounts are still not in order but have a definitive milky coffee smell...

    Hope yours is better

  2. To keep you updated....

I just found coffee in my desk draw and under the printer. Also a patient cancelled their orthotics as they had been told by a physio that they need a soft orthotic with a med dome because the front foot arch has collapsed. I was wrong when I tried to explain that their is no transverse metatarsal arch so it can not Collapse.

Off to get a coffee wish me luck

  3. Snow and a patient who's been told what they need by a clueless twerp.

    That sucks quite hard.

Have anyone else noticed that the people who tell patients what type of insole they need NEVER ACTUALLY SUPPLY THEM:bang:.

    Bane of my life also.

    Chin up old boy.

    Hi Michael,

I've had patients taking the word of some bloke they met on a bus over mine when it comes to orthotics! At least your patients take convincing by another health professional.

Do you, or does anyone have any papers/documentation that the transverse arch does not exist. Still a lot of orthopaedic consultants referring for collapsed transverse metatarsal arches. Be good to give them some hard evidence

    Thanks

    Robin

    Robin,

I've attached 2 articles for you to get you started. In addition to the thread Mike recommended drop in on these ones at some point too:

Where is the correct localization for transverse arch support on insole?
    Transverse Arch?

Surely you know you're having a crap day when you wake up and remember you're a podiatrist...

I had a new NHS pt recently explain to me that her heel pain is (according to her private osteopath) plantar fasciitis of the periosteum; and when i asked if this wouldn't be called periostitis she told me she has been going to him for years and he is very good.

My reply: Obviously, and has any of his treatments helped?

    Her: No.

She then took her shoes off and the Hd i enucleated from the heel made the symptoms disappear, so i'm thinking i should start a private practice.

  10. Fatboy maybe it should read.." You know that your having a crap day when you find out your osteopath is blind.."

  11. I've had that with a mortons neuroma. They'd even offered to excise it. Turned out to be a corn in a cunning disguise.

    Hammer nail syndrome.

If it makes you feel better I've had patients referred with dorsal plantar fascitis. I keep them filed with the high arch pes planus and my personnal favourite, a patient who pronates and supinates during gait!

No **** Sherlock! They also have a head, perhaps that should go on the referral as well!
