My current orthotic Lab is on strike and I need a place to send my casts. Any suggestions would be great....Must be on the east coast and north of Philly...

    thanks in advance.........

  2. East coast of where north of which philly.

Might be a good idea to put in which country or put your flag on your profile so that you get the correct advice.

Forget the East coast Labs . I'm in Ottawa, Canada and use Paris Orthotics in Vancouver BC. parisorthotics.com Free shipping. They produce the best looking and functional devices I have come across in the last 25yrs. I have used them now for over 10yrs.

Paris is expensive. We have been in business for 20 years and offer 1 year warranty, 4-5 day turn around time. Our orthotics use SHARP SHAPE (same as paris). Only $80.00 a pair with free shipping for new customers. I know you like what you are getting.. but those who get too comfortable loose thousands of dollars a year; just because they are comfortable. ;o)

In an area where most of the other orthotics dispensed are home produced garbage (one Podiatrist in Ottawa makes Sand splint 3/4 devices, no cover for $800.00!!). My business is vastly increased by using an exeptionally good quality device. The x-tra cost to me is worth it. (I provide devises at $475.00).

Paris does make very good devices. I am not contesting that. I am saying that you CAN get very similar devices without having to send them off to the West Coast and wait 2-3 weeks and save $1000s of dollars a year only on a 6month warranty. Sure bias from me is to be expected. However remaining somewhat objective I try to state facts that frustrate me. There are many laboratories out there with similar quality, materials, and workmanship. Why not use them if you can save money and time. I think I am just speaking from experience in Ontario. We are so saturated with labs it boggles my mind. Some Podiatrists have bargained us down because the "local guy" does orthotics for $60.00 a pair even though we provide X, Y, Z more efficiently. To them quality doesn't even matter. When I try to explain our quality is not comparable; well different strokes for different folks. That's why I ask why wait for similar services and longer wait time half way across the country? Maybe it's a different story in Ottawa then in Toronto?

    Dave,

The majority of orthoses I prescribe are based on Sagittal Plane Facilitaion principals. My experience with other labs is that they don't fully understand what I am asking for. PARIS has worked with me over the past 10 years so I know now that I am getting the device closest to what I want.

The time delay getting devices from PARIS far outweighs the need to send devices back because they weren't made properly.

PARIS have been very helpful in other ways also. Personal/business service and loyalty is important to me. However, if the Lab costs cut into my required Gross Vs Net income then I would have to consider another lab. To date they have not.

    Regards

Very Interesting. Well kudos for the loyalty!. In all honesty customer loyalty is appreciated. If the global recession gets worse and you need to save costs give me a ring.

    Take care!

The 2 closest labs to you within my network are Earthwalk orthotics and Orthotic Innovations, both in North Eastern Ohio. I'm in the process of upgrading Earthwalk to support the newest RadScan data and will be upgrading them over the next week. From a client perspective, both sites accept either scans or orders ready to machine from OreTek Client systems. In the next few months, I'm also expecting to install a new Client/Server system in PA as well.

Look it's alright for you guys in the USA, (Canada)

But can anyone recommend any good labs

in the UK. Have asked for advice elsewhere but not helpful.

I use two at the moment but always looking for others.

Pegasus Orthoses in Lisburn, N. Ireland would be one good resource. They were just at the SCP show in Harrogate with the newest prototype enclosure for RadScan and a working OreTek scanner.
