    Hi,

I finished my degree at the University of Huddersfield a year and a half ago. However, I took some personal time out after my degree. In the year and a half I was not working as a podiatrist I became a manger of a big retail store. I ran the store for over 50 staff members. However, my heart was not in it, and longed to be in podiatry.

I am currently based in Holmfirth, have a full driving licence, and wanting to get back into podiatry work-does anyone know anywhere that is hiring?

Whilst at the university I was a part of the buddy mentoring scheme, which helped younger students, I won best research presentation, when I had to present my final year dissertation in front of over 200 people, and I undertook over 1000 clinical hours, based at the university and at a local PCT. Whilst at the local PCT I worked in the diabetes clinics, biomechanics clinic, routine clinic, and assisted in podiatric surgery and administered the local anaesthetic injections to the digits and to the ankle.

I am willing to work either full or part time, and willing to travel around west or south Yorkshire.

If anyone knows anything please pass on the advice...

    Hi Newts

You need to try and find a job pronto, before the next batch of graduates are biting a your heels. It will be difficult but not impossible.
    • if you haven't applied for your hpc registration do that first
    • have you considered mixing up podiatry and a shop environment? I noticed a full-time vacancy in Doncaster for a prominent Footwear/Podiatry shop?
    • Have you registered on the NHS website and made sure you are checking it daily
    • Do an engine search for podiatry vacancies and numerous agencies will pop up and it would be best to talk to them in person
    • Take your CV to local podiatrists. They may have no jobs but they will remember you if you make a good impression and hopefully get in touch then
    • You should consider updated your CPD to encourage new employers that you are keen to now enter the podiatry workforce.
    • NHS jobs are scarce. Read the person specification in minute detail and answer the questions fully with examples. Use your management experience to your advantage.
Finally, Good Luck and don't give in. I've noticed more jobs in the South at grade 5....if you are not tied by property or family to an area I would definitely consider casting your net further afield (it doesn't have to be forever).
