In my private practice I rent out rooms to other practitioners including a physiotherapist, Osteopath and podiatrist. I also run a busy diary, one big problem i have is organising how and when the others use the rooms. Often new practitioners would like very flexible times initially, and this is understandable when building a practice. However, the admin is difficult for this and mistakes can occurr. Because of this I am doing a little research for an idea I had on how this could be managed, obviously before I go ahead I need to now if its just me or if others would like a more flexible management solution for spaces in their surgery and for those of you about to embark in private practice would you like to be able to rent rooms as and when you need to.
So I have compiled a little survey of nine questions and i would be so grateful if you could fill it in for me, i have attached the link below

Any other feed back about your experiences either rent space out yourself or renting rooms in other peoples premises would be appreciated.
    Many thanks

    Hello Lizzy,
Have to tried Google Calendar to manage your bookings? It was suggested on another post here. You can set it up so it is accessible via the internet to select users to view the bookings ( haven't tried this yet myself, but useful for booking appointments anyway.)
I find if you are renting a room you need as a bare minimum a waiting area for your patients and a contact person/ receptionist either on site or reachable by phone. A friendly receptionist on site always seems to go down well with patients, especially the elderly who may have trouble finding you. If you provided the receptionist to meet/ greet and handle cash or book appointments then you could charge more for the service.
If renting the room out to multiple users you would have to consider where they will store equipment, security for each person's supplies, maintenance on shared equipment (drills, chairs, etc)
Sounds like a great idea, good luck,
    Kara

    Thanks Kara,
Thats great feed back. When I'm a bit further along I will be able to give more details.
I would be grateful if anyone reading these post would follow the link to my survey, the more responses the better. More feedback like Kara's would be invaluable.
    Thanks everyone

I just filled out the questionnaire. This seems to me to be a marketing excercise for some one like a real estate agent or the like. !!!!

No its just little old me, its market research for an idea i had to help with small business practice management. First rule is find out if any one needs it. Its anonymous and confidential and not passed on to anyone. I cleared it with admin before i posted.
Thanks for filling in the survey drfoo2, dont worry i'm not an estate agent, just a stressed out chiropodist:)

Just filled out the survey, would be interested to know how it will better manage your practice facility/revenue. I'm thinking about sub-letting a room in my clinic and wondering best way to go about it. Good luck

If I was renting out a room this how I would do it.

start with a 6 month contract for x day/half day and Y cost per day/half day

If at the end of 6 months everyone is happy 12 month contracts.

If they don´t have patient not your problem, make it easy on yourself advertise you have a room available for full or half days starting with a 6 month lease then 12 month lease for x £.

You don´t rent a flat or house for days your at the place you pay for the month for the length of the contract, money comes in by the end of the month - if you are going to run the room to make some money make it as a business.

    Good luck
