The Chilblains Dilemma

There are lots of problems and issues when dealing with chilblains

We have had lots of threads on chilblains here on Podiatry Arena and you still see lots of comments here and on social media as to what is the best treatment for chilblains. Following some of those threads linked above, you can see the issue and the dilemma. There is not really a lot of research that supports any one treatment over another, which will lead to a lot of anecdotal advice. That leads to a wide range of differing opinions as to what is the best. A lot of those opinions are not supported by any evidence and some of the recommendations given simply will not and can not work as there is no physiological or biochemical or any mechanism by which they could work.

We did try and address those issues on a PodChatLive on chilblains:

Some of the key threads on chilblains are these:
Nifedipine Vs Placebo For Treatment Of Chilblains
Chilblains in Children
Pathophysiology of Chilblains
Chilblains / perniosis

Probably of the greatest and most recent issues is the apparent high incidence of chilblains in those with COVID-19 (Covid Toes)
We also did a recent episode of PodChatLive on that as well:
