Hi all
I just want to ask if anyone has had any experience with blood patch therapy (pts own blood injected into injury site) plantar fasciitis?
i would be grateful for any responses.

Thanks for the info very interesting, my local radiologist has just started to use this therapy for sport injuries. he rquested this therapy for one of my patients with plantar fasciitis.

Radiologist ?

Seems a strange treatment for a Radiologist - maybe I´m wrong.

Sports GP, Ortho etc I can see Radiologist Nope but maybe I´m wrong ??:confused:

I believe you are talking about autologous blood injections and yes I believe they are becoming more common, although not sure how a radiologist can inject, perhaps with the help of someone else qualified in injection techniques!

I currently use injections to aid healing from trauma damage and may inject a variety of fluids to cause inflammation in a bid to restart the inflammatory process and heal the affected area. (Prolotherapy)

its not uncommon for Radiologists to inject, in terms of prolotherapy and steroid etc musculoskeletal radiologists often will do it under US guidance.

George is right they usually do steriod injections under us guidance, i had a conversation with the radiologist he has been using blood patch therapy on a lot of patients with sports injuries with good results.

Shame would have been good to learn as my patient informs me she had the treatment done to a elbow injurie and is was very sucessful.
she is to inform me of how it goes with her plantar fasciitis.

Interventional radiologists do amazing things. It's a specialty that has gone far beyond simple vascular studies.
