We were just introduced to a sandal from Austria called the "Hallux" by Fidelio. Very nice looking sandal with a stretchable leather bunion pocket. The footbed is removable and therefore orthotic friendly. Here's a link to a quick video I did on the product:

I did a site search on this product and came up empty, so I thought I would share. A Google search on "Fidelio Hallux" turned up retailers in the UK and Europe. Not sure about Australia.

Anyway, thought I would share. We have a "fitting run" of these shoes in our store and we are special ordering them at this point. Every woman that has tried them reported no discomfort in the bunion area of their foot.

Women with bunion pain often have a hard time finding sandals that are comfortable and look good. This shoe could be an answer to their problem.

I've been stocking these for close to a year now. The ladies that buy one pair end up adding to their collection with different colours. Finally... a decent looking shoe that does not have to be painfully stretched and one that can take a CFO. Big thumbs up.

 

Those are a great sandal. I recommend them to patients quite often as there is a retailer here that carries them.

 

These sandals are GREAT, you can also have them with a custom made Orthotic.

The quality is good, and they last. I have some of the Gents Fidelio Sandals, ands they are so comfy.

 

Hard to know from just a video, but l would not recommend the "sandals" shown based on the fact that they dont have a closed back.

Most clients with Hallux Valgus tend to walk off the side at the heel of an open back Mule due to the Abducted gait most of these clients present with.

By the by its not actually a Sandal, the first two shown are a "Mule" or "Slide"

 

They have a mule, and a sandal with an adjustable heel strap. They also have other models of Hallux shoes, but they are not currently available in the USA, to my knowledge.

 

Yes l know they have a Mule, thats what the youtube link showed, mule, no sandal.
A heel strap is still not a closed back, but if it works for you and your clients its all good then.
