    Activating the abductor hallucis.
    The image below shows doming with an inelastic strap across the top of the foot. If you are not fatiguing the muscle then you are not effectively targeting it.

    How long would you have to stand and swing your free leg backwards and forwards before you felt the "muscle burn" under the standing foot? I think you would find other muscles fatiguing long before the abductor hallucis.

    Footballers take note though. The intrinsics in the standing foot are clearly an important part of providing a stable base for accurate shooting/passing.
