Hi, my name is Chow, and I'm researching where to find the materials to produce foot orthoses, and was wondering who are some of the suppliers that people are using?

At the moment, I'll be using plaster models from foam impression negatives.
However, I am interested in moving towards a CAD/CAM and milling process.

I know of a few places to get the blocks for milling, but can't seem to find that many that are pre-fabricated blocks in the shape of a shoe insole.

Are labs using the rectangular blocks and cutting them out to fit the shoe?
If not, who's supplying them with the right stuff?

The most common products for Cad Cam machining of orthotics is polypropylene and delrin. A similar material, ABS plastic, will be experimented with in the near future now that I have my own servo based machine to work with. I already machine ABS for my scanners and based on the machining and heat molding characteristics, seems worthy of research. The only down side to ABS is that it's slightly more brittle. Personally, I by my materials from Piedmont Plastics, which has divisions in several parts of the united states.
