Hello all

Has anyone come acros, prescribed used or been involved with the Jaipur foot http://www.jaipurfoot.org/. I saw this on TV last night and from start to finish they make a below knee prosthetic limb with the Jaipur foot attached, in just 1 hour. The patient straps it on and walks away. The little boy featured came in after travelling 1000miles across India, has a limb made, strapped it on and immediately ran up and down the court yard with a huge grin on his face.
The foot is made of a simple composite of wood steel and rubber, being solid around the heel and more flexible in the foot and more flexible due to the tapering shape proximal to distal. All made for about £20 - Amazing stuff I thought
when you consider the time and cost of prosthetics in the western world. I bet there are many non medicaly insured people in the USA for instance who would benifit from this low tech approach, let alone across the pooorer countries of the world.
