    Hello.

    I am student podiatrist.

Today, I have some questions about knock-knee gait(?).

My friend (19 yr-old-female) has knee genu-varum on static weight bearing assessment. However, on visual gait analysis, her base of gait was narrow (less than 50 mm) and interestingly, her swing phase resulted in her femour internal rotation (more than normal) to bring her free swinging knee too close or rubbing to the other knee. (I named just knock-knee gait.) According to some of textbooks, she may be weak hip abductor or gluteus muscles, but did not have gluteus medius lurch gait and (-) trendelenburg sign.

    1. Is there general consensus that the person who has knee genu varum has narrow base of gait?

    2. Any other professional terminology, rather than 'knock-knee gait'?

    3. She has knee genu varum on static weight-bearing assessment, but she has a (?) knock-knee gait (rubbing both knees during gait). Let me ask any relevant theories?

I asked before mid-tarsal joints, thanks for all threads/replies.

    Regards
