    Now that there are only 21 more days 'til Christmas, I thought it was about time to send out my annual Kirby Family Christmas Card to wish to all my friends and colleagues on Podiatry Arena a very Merry Christmas. :santa::santa2:

    For those who have never met me, I'm the old guy on the right in the lumberjack shirt.

  5. Not sure my portrait collection would be well received on Arena so a winter scene from Glencoe will have to suffice. Season's greetings to one and all.

    Seasonal wishes

    Dear all,

    Just wanted to take this opportunity to thank everybody on the forum for posting their enlightening, informative, instructive, threads/posts.
    Especially the big and not so big names on the forum who keep things running behind the scenes and make sure this is an information resource to be valued by those such as myself seeking out advice and opportunity to learn.

    This will be my last post of 2009 and my last post wearing the flag of England because as of the new year I am taking up a new post in the sunnier climate of Victoria, so for now farewell.

    Merry Xmas and a Happy New Year to all.

    Once again thank you to all who have helped, infomed, enlightened and educated me over the past twelve months.

  13. My four year old daughter asked me what I wanted for Christmas today. My answer was "peace on earth". She thought for a while and said: "that's not a real present, Daddy" to which I replied in pantomime style "Oh yes it is!"

    Here she is, ignoring the laws of physics as per usual.

    Merry Christmas, and peace be with you all.

    U2- Peace On Earth

    Heaven on Earth
    We need it now
    I'm sick of all of this
    Hanging around
    Sick of sorrow
    Sick of pain
    Sick of hearing again and again
    That there's gonna be
    Peace on Earth

    Where I grew up
    There weren't many trees
    Where there was we'd tear them down
    And use them on our enemies
    They say that what you mock
    Will surely overtake you
    And you become a monster
    So the monster will not break you

    And it's already gone too far
    Who said that if you go in hard
    You won't get hurt

    Jesus could you take the time
    To throw a drowning man a line
    Peace on Earth
    Tell the ones who hear no sound
    Whose sons are living in the ground
    Peace on Earth
    No whos or whys
    No-one cries like a mother cries
    For peace on Earth
    She never got to say goodbye
    To see the color in his eyes
    Now he's in the dirt
    That's peace on Earth

    They're reading names out over the radio
    All the folks the rest of us won't get to know
    Sean and Julia, Gareth, Anne and Breda
    Their lives are bigger, than any big idea

    Jesus can you take the time
    To throw a drowning man a line
    Peace on Earth
    To tell the ones who hear no sound
    Whose sons are living in the ground
    Peace on Earth

    Jesus this song you wrote
    The words are sticking in my throat
    Peace on Earth
    Hear it every Christmas time
    But hope and history won't rhyme
    So what's it worth?
    This peace on Earth

    Peace on Earth
    Peace on Earth
    Peace on Earth

    A friend sent me this last minute Christmas cake recipe.

    I thought it would be good to share ;)

    Christmas Cake recipe!! :santa:

    Ingredients:

    * 2 cups flour
    * 1 stick butter
    * 1 cup of water
    * 1 tsp baking soda
    * 1 cup of sugar
    * 1 tsp salt
    * 1 cup of brown sugar
    * Lemon juice
    * 4 large eggs

    * Nuts
    * 1 bottle wine
    * 2 cups of dried fruit

    Sample the wine to check quality. Take a large bowl, check the wine
    again. To be sure it is of the highest quality, pour one level cup and
    drink. Repeat. Turn on the electric mixer. Beat one cup of butter in a
    large fluffy bowl. Add one teaspoon of sugar.. Beat again. At this point
    it's best to make sure the wine is still OK. Try another cup... Just
    in case. Turn off the mixerer thingy. Break 2 eggs and add to the bowl
    and chuck in the cup of dried fruit.

    Pick the frigging fruit up off floor. Mix on the turner.. If the fried
    druit gets stuck in the beaterers just pry it loose with a drewscriver.
    Sample the wine to check for tonsisticity. Next, sift two cups of salt.
    Or something. Check the wine. Now shift the lemon juice and strain your
    nuts. Add one table. Add a spoon of sugar, or some fink. Whatever you
    can find. Greash the oven. Turn the cake tin 360 degrees and try not
    to fall over. Don't forget to beat off the turner. Finally, throw the
    bowl through the window. Finish the wine and wipe counter with the
    cat.

    Bingle Jells!

    PS. Don't bake & drive. Keep safe :D

  17. Hey Steve, I watch the news each day here as they tally the body count for Afghanistan, it cheers me up no end as I watch local boys being buried :mad:. I see that the past and present leaders of my country are "in court" or due to be "in court" (we'll happily put alleged NAZI pensioners on trial, but when it comes to the current government we have to wait until after the election) regarding the war in Iraq. This morning I was awoken with the news that terrorists have now worked out that they can use their bladders / anuses (take your pick) to store liquid explosives on planes.......:bang: (bang- unfortunately literally) Meanwhile the NHS is on it's knees and I see that the arms industry is booming (unfortunately literally)....."And I can see those fighter planes, I can see those fighter planes." Bullet the Blue Sky.

    So what's it worth?
    Peace on earth.:morning:

    Stay safe, and don't go changing, Steve. I love you as you are. Go break the laws of physics.. It's the way forward.

  18. And I can see those catheters, and I can see those colostomy bags...:D

    Cheer up Spooner, it's Christmas.

  19. Shame Goerge and the poodle aren't still in charge - you can just hear the refrain

    Hi Simon:
    "Go break the laws of physics........"
    Unfortunately the only time I seem to break the laws of physics is on the green when a putt breaks the opposite direction that it's suppose to.

    To a man who feels, life's a tragedy - to one who thinks, life's a comedy.
