Hi Kevin,
You have helped me become increasingly aware of the importance of locating the STJA correctly before orthotic therapy can be prescibed appropriately. I do not have access to a foot scanner or your STJ Locator instrument?. Are there any manuel manoeuvres/palpations which I can carry out which would locate the STJA reasonable accurately??

Hello Isabel, there are a number of methods that can be employed in a clinical environment that allow the clinician to estimate the location of the subtalar joint axis. Perhaps the most commonly employed technique is that which Prof. Kirby described in the following paper:

In another post, you mentioned using a scanner to determine the subtalar joint axial position- can you elaborate on this technique?
