I wonder if anyone knows if there are any contra indications to nail surgery using Scandonets 3% plain with phenolisation if a patient is taking Tamoxifen.
    Any advice gratefully recieved.
    Thank you!

    Hi,

I am in a similar situation and wondered what you did about this?

There is no direct contraindication to using scandonest in a patient medicated with tamoxifen. However, it is a matter of practitioner discretion whether nail surgery is indicated since the patient is immunocompromised. Basically, if the patient is suffering from recurrent onychocryptosis which becomes regularly infected then an incisional technique under antibiotic cover is probably indicated. If the problem is involution only, then conservative treatment might be better. Always be aware of the increased risk of CVA and DVT, however unlikely, and avoid terbinafine if mycosis is present.

    Hope this is helpful.
