US
Canada
Uk
Aus + NZ

USA ~50
UK ~ 10
Canada ~8
Australia 15
New Zealand 6

A bit low on the UK estimates. Here is an educated guess - not that I know much about it.....

I have counted 20 Podiatry Labs in the UK and Northern Ireland operating as businesses selling their wares. There are also a decent number of Clinicans who do some of their own manufacturing/adapting.

If you count the Orthopaedic (Orthotic) Manufacturers who are now selling into Podiatry, there are probably at least another 10 selling already into Podiatry and who view Podiatry as a new market for them.

So busy times.

Thanks for that - my estimate was based on what I have seen in the various UK publications - I guess the other 10 have a very low profile

In the greater Toronto area alone I can count 10 labs from the top of my head. So I think the Canada estimate would be more like 16-20.

We have a number of Labs who would sell and market themselves nationally.

I suppose the others would keep a lower Profile, at least by not advertising in Pod Now etc. A couple of the best go mainly on word of mouth and are choosy who they work with and there are others would have a loyal client base locally.

Remember there are also a number of NHS Trusts who have their own lab with fabrication equipment.

If you add Private, NHS and Orthopaedic companies (big and small) interested in Podiatry there are about 100 separate workshops making Orthotic Insoles for Podiatry around the UK and Northern Ireland. Perhaps another 10 in the Republic of Ireland.

In Germany I believe there are about 400 workshops but most are Orthopaedie Schuh shop/clinics/workshops paid for by the Insurance system and most small towns would have 1.
