I tripped over a dog (who thought his name was "Damnit Cooper"!) resulting in a lisfranc fracture in 2004. I had 6 surgeries including fusion of all joints. I am now 8 years post injury and continue to have severe pain and swelling whether I am sitting, standing, walking, or laying down. I live on pain meds just to be able to function.
